Tiramisu comes from Veneto, although different regions claim variations.
The name literally means “pick me up,” referring to the energy from coffee and sugar.
It’s not baked — it’s assembled.
🧂 Ingredients (for 6 people)
500 g mascarpone
300 g savoiardi (ladyfingers)
4 eggs (separated)
100 g sugar
300 ml espresso coffee (cooled)
Cocoa powder
🍰 Preparation
Beat egg yolks with sugar until creamy.
Add mascarpone and mix gently.
Beat egg whites until stiff and fold in.
Dip savoiardi quickly in coffee.
Create layers of cream and biscuits.
Finish with cocoa powder.
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
Grammar Hint
Notice the verb mettere (to put) is often used in Italian cooking:
Metti il mascarpone in una ciotola.
Also notice time expressions:
Per almeno 4 ore.The preposition per expresses duration.
